Chapter One

Dao Ke Dao, very Dao.

The use of Dao Chong may not be profitable.

Heaven and earth are unkind, treating all things as mere dogs.

The immortal Valley God is called Xuan Mu.

The gate of Xuanmu is called the root of heaven and earth.

Good deeds are like water.

Water benefits all things without competition,

Therefore, it is advantageous to have it, but useless to have it.

Chapter 12

Five colors make the eyes blind; Five tones can cause deafness; The five flavors make people feel refreshed;

Roaming wild in the sky and hunting, it makes one's heart go crazy; Rare goods are harmful.

We take the sage as our belly instead of our eyes, so we go there and take this.

Chapter XIII

Honor and disgrace come as surprise, and great fortune and danger come as one's own.

What does it mean to be surprised by favor or disgrace?

Being pampered is like being surprised when you receive it, and being surprised when you lose it, which is called being surprised by favor or disgrace.

What is a great danger like a body?

To be invisible is called Yi;

To the extreme of emptiness, to maintain tranquility.

The restoration of command is called 'Chang', and the knowledge of Chang Yueming is known.

Not knowing what to do, acting recklessly.

Knowing constant appearance, appearance is public, public is complete, complete is heaven, heaven is the way, and the way lasts for a long time. Without body, there is no danger.

Chapter 17

Tai Shang, I don't know if it exists;

The great road is abandoned, but there is benevolence and righteousness;

What people fear, do not be fearless.

If the puppet has nowhere to go.

Everyone has surplus, but I am alone.

Oh my foolish heart,

The common people are clear, I am alone and faint;

Ordinary people observe, but I feel alone and bored.

Everyone has their way, but I am stubborn and contemptible.

I am different from others, but I am a precious food mother.

Chapter 21

Kong De's demeanor is based solely on the Tao.

The Tao is a thing, but it is only in a daze.

In a daze, there is an elephant;

In a daze, there is something inside;

Chapter 24

Enterprises cannot stand, and those who cross cannot.

Chapter 26

Heavy as light roots, calm as restless ruler.

A gentleman walks without leaving his supplies all day long,

How can the master of all chariots lead the world lightly with his own life!

Lightness leads to loss of roots, impatience leads to loss of ruler.

Chapter 27

Good deeds have no trace; Good words without flaws are banished;

Good numbers do not require strategic planning; Good closure has nothing to do with evil and cannot be opened;

A good knot cannot be untied without a rope.

Saints are always good at saving people, so they never abandon anyone; Always good at saving things,

Therefore, having no abandoned objects is called inheriting the Ming Dynasty.

Those who are good are not good teachers;

Those who are not good people are the capital of good people.

Not valuing their teachers, not loving their resources,

Although it is a great mystery, it is said to be wonderful.

Chapter 28

Knowing the male and guarding the female are the streaMS of the world.

For the streams of the world, Changde never leaves, returning to infancy.

Knowing its whiteness and guarding its darkness is the way of the world.

For the style of the world, Changde is not extraordinary, returning to infinity.

Know its glory, guard its disgrace, and be the valley of the world.

For the valley of the world, constant virtue is sufficient, returning to simplicity.

Pu San is an instrument, and if a sage uses it, he is an official.

Chapter 29

I see that he has no choice but to take over the world.

The divine artifact of the world cannot be used.

The doer loses, the doer loses.

Whether walking or following; Or hiss or blow; Strong or weak; Or stumble or fall.

Chapter 30

Those who are led by Taoist priests, not those who are strong in the world by military force, are far from successful.

Good deeds only bear fruit, I dare not use them to gain strength.

Do not be modest, do not cut, do not be arrogant, do not be forced, and do not be strong.

Soldiers are ominous weapons, objects, or evil, so those who possess the Tao are not to be found.

When a gentleman resides, he favors the left; when using military force, he favors the right.

Winning without beauty, but beauty is the joy of killing.

The Tao is often non-existent, and the name is simple;

Chapter 33

Those who know others are wise, and those who know themselves are wise.

The winner is powerful, and the self winner is strong.

Those who are content are rich, those who are strong have aspirations, those who do not lose their place are long-lasting, and those who die without dying are long-lived.

Chapter 34

The road is wide and can be left or right.

All things rely on their existence without giving up, and achieve success without giving up.

Clothing nurtures all things without being the master, often without desires, and can be named small;

All things that return without Lord can be called great.

Because it does not end up being great, it can become great.

Chapter 35

Holding an elephant, the world is moving forward.

Go without harm, Anping Tai.

Joy and bait, stop passing by.

The exit of the Tao is bland and tasteless,

Not seeing enough, not hearing enough, not using enough.

Chapter 36

If you want to move forward, you must firmly hold onto it;

To weaken, one must strengthen;

To abolish it, one must strengthen it;

If you want to take it, you must be firm with it.

Weakness is better than strength.

Fish cannot escape from the abyss, and the weapons of the country cannot be displayed to people.

The Tao always does nothing, but does everything.

Unknown simplicity, even the husband will not want it.

Not wanting to be quiet, the world will decide for itself.

Chapter 38

To be virtuous is to be virtuous;

To maintain virtue without losing virtue is to lack virtue.

Shangren did it without thinking.

There is a belief in the meaning behind it.

Do not respond to the ceremony,

Then throw it away with a flick of the arm.

Chapter 46

There is a way in the world, but horses run on feces;

There is no greater calamity than dissatisfaction;

There is no greater blame than desire.

Chapter 47

know the whole world without going outside;

Without peeking, one can see the way of heaven.

Its origin is far away, but its knowledge is limited.

Saints are in the world, they are in harmony, serving the world and stirring their hearts.

The people pay attention to their ears and eyes, and the sages are all children.

Chapter 50

The disciples of life, three out of ten;

The dead have three out of ten;

Let me have knowledge and walk on the great path, but fear is in giving.

The road is vast, but the people prefer the path.

The court is in chaos, the fields are scarce, and the warehouses are empty;

Wearing colorful clothes, carrying sharp swords, disliking food and drink, having surplus wealth, is a form of theft and praise, which is not in line with the Tao

Those who are good at building will not uproot, those who are good at holding will not detach, and descendants will continue to offer sacrifices.

To cultivate oneself, one's virtue is true;

To cultivate oneself at home, one's virtue is surplus;

To cultivate oneself in the countryside, one's virtue is long;

To cultivate oneself in a country, one's virtue is abundant;

To cultivate in the world, one's virtue is universal.

The law is flourishing, and there are many thieves.

I transform myself into the people without doing anything; I am quiet and the people are upright;

I have nothing to do, but the people will become rich; I have no desires and the people are simple.

Chapter 58

Its politics are dull, its people are pure;

His political inspection shows that his people are lacking.

Calamities, blessings depend on them;

Blessing, where calamity lies.

Zhengfu becomes strange, Shanfu becomes demon.

The mystery of human beings lasts for a long time.

It is based on the principles of the sage, not cutting, being honest but not flashy, being straight but not ostentatious, and shining but not dazzling.

Chapter 59

To govern human affairs, there is no better way.

Fu Wei Si is called early service, and early service is called accumulating virtue.

Accumulating virtue leads to no limits, and without limits, one cannot know the extreme. Without limits, one can have a country.

Having a mother of nations can last for a long time.

It is called the path of deep roots and long-lasting vision.

Chapter 60

Governing a great country is like cooking small delicacies.

To conquer the world with the Dao, ghosts are not gods.

The gods do not harm people, non gods do not harm people, and saints do not harm people either.

Husband and wife do not harm each other, therefore virtue belongs to them.

Chapter 61

A great nation is lowly, at the turn of the world, it is the queen of the world.

The female often triumphs over the male with stillness, placing stillness at the bottom.

Therefore, for small countries below the level of large countries, small countries are taken;

If it is a small country or a large country, then choose a large country.

Therefore, either take it from below, or take it from below.

A big country only wants to be a slave to people, while a small country only wants to be a servant to people.

Both of them have their own desires, the greater one should be the lower.

Chapter 62

The Dao is the essence of all things, the treasure of the good, and the protector of the poor.

Good words can be respected, and good deeds can add people.

How can we abandon the shortcomings of human beings.

Therefore, it is better to sit on this path than to establish the emperor and appoint the three dukes, even though there is an arched jade to advance the four horses.

What is the reason why ancient people valued this path?

Isn't it said: seeking to obtain, avoiding evil from sin?

Therefore, it is considered precious in the world.

Chapter 63

To do nothing, to do nothing, to be tasteless.

The difficulty lies in the simplicity of the image, which is greater than its thinness.

Difficult things in the world must be done easily;

The great affairs of the world must be done in detail.

It is because the sage is never great that he can become great.

A light promise will lead to a lack of trust, and how easy it is will lead to how difficult it is.

It is difficult for the sage, so there is no difficulty in the end.

Chapter 64

Its safety is easy to hold, its foresight is easy to plan; It is brittle and easy to spread, and it is slightly easy to disperse.

To prevent chaos and prevent chaos.

The tree that embraces each other grows in the slightest detail;

The nine story platform starts from the soil;

A thousand mile trip begins with one step.

The doer loses, the doer loses.

The sage's inaction leads to no defeat; No hesitation or loss.

The efforts of the people often fail when they achieve success,

If one remains cautious throughout, there will be no failures.

Chapter 65

Those who were good in ancient times were not wise to the people, but foolish.

The difficulty of treating the people lies in their wisdom.

Therefore, governing the country with wisdom is the thief of the nation; Not governing with wisdom is the blessing of the country.

Knowing both of these is also a valid argument.

Changzhi Ji Shi is called Xuande.

Xuande is deep, far away, contrary to things, and even smooth.

Jianghai can be the king of the Hundred Valleys, because of his goodness in serving others, he can be the king of the Hundred Valleys.

If a sage wishes to ascend to the people, he must speak to them;

The ancestors must follow behind.

It is to prioritize the well-being of the people over the well-being of the saints, and to prioritize the well-being of the people over harm.

It is promoted with the joy of the world without getting tired.

Because it is not disputed, the world cannot compete with it.

Chapter 67

The world calls me great, as if I am unworthy.

The husband is only big, so it seems unworthy,

If Xiao, over time, he will become even more delicate.

I have three treasures, hold them and protect them.

One is kindness, two is frugality, and three is not daring to be the first in the world.

Kindness leads to courage; a thrifty man will be rich; I dare not be the first in the world,

I am willing to sacrifice kindness and courage, sacrifice frugality and generosity, sacrifice later and first, and die!

Fu Ci wins through battle and solidifies through rules.

Heaven will save him and protect him with compassion.

Chapter 68

A virtuous person is not skilled in martial arts;

A skilled warrior is not angry;

Those who are good at defeating the enemy will not cooperate;

My words are easy to understand and easy to implement, which cannot be known or implemented in the world.

Words have their roots, and matters have their rulers.

I am ignorant because I do not know.

Those who know me hope, then I am precious.

It is because the sage is brown and carries jade.

Chapter 71

Knowing but not knowing is not enough; I don't know, I'm sick.

Saints are not sick, they are sick.

Only when the husband is sick, it means not being sick.

Chapter 72

If the people are not afraid of authority, then great authority will prevail.

No pleasure in their dwelling, no aversion to their birth.

Fu Wei never gets tired, it means never getting tired.

The sage knows but does not see, and self love does not value itself.

So go there and take this.

Chapter 73

Dare to kill if you dare, and live if you dare not. These two are either beneficial or harmful. What is evil in heaven, who knows its cause.

The way of heaven is to win without contention, to respond without words, to come without calling, and to plan well.

The heavenly net is vast, sparse yet not lost.

Chapter 74

The people are not afraid of death, how can they fear death?

If the people constantly fear death and find it strange, I will hold onto it and kill it. Who dares?

Often, there are those who kill the master and those who kill on behalf of the master, which is called 'Dai Da Jiang Zhuo'.

The master craftsman of the Fu Dynasty rarely harms his hands.

Chapter 75

The hunger of the people is due to the abundance of food and taxes.

The difficulty of governing the people lies in the achievements made above them, which are difficult to govern.

The light death of the people, with the thickness of their survival, is a light death.

Only those who cannot live are virtuous and noble.

Chapter 76

Life is also fragile, and death is also strong.

The life of plants and trees is tender and fragile, and their death is withered and withered.

The strong are the ones who die, and the weak are the ones who live.

If the army is strong, it will perish; if the wood is strong, it will collapse.

Under the strong, above the weak.

Chapter 77

The way of heaven is like drawing a bow.

Suppress the high and raise the low;

Those who have surplus will lose it, and those who lack will make up for it.

The way of heaven is to make up for the deficiencies while damaging the surplus;

The way of man is not like that, where loss is not enough to offer surplus.

Who can have surplus to serve the world, only the Tao.

To regard a sage as one without relying on him, to achieve success without seeking recognition, and not to see a wise person.

Chapter 78

There is no weakness in the world compared to water, and there is no victory for the strong in battle, as it cannot be easily achieved.

Weakness triumphs over strength, softness triumphs over rigidity. No one in the world knows or can do it.

As the sage said:

The stain of the state is called the ruler of the country;

The country is unlucky, he is the king of the world.

The truth is opposite.

Chapter 79

When there is great resentment, there will be surplus resentment. To repay resentment with virtue, peace can be done for good.

It is the sage who holds the left covenant, not blaming others.

There is a German contract, but no German contract.

Heaven has no kinship, often with good people.

Chapter 80

small territory and population.

Use whatever tools are available but do not use them, and make the people die but not move far away.

Although there are boats and boats, there is nothing to ride on; Although there are armored soldiers, there is nothing to report.

Use it to make the people tie ropes again.

Sweet their food, beautiful their clothing, secure their residence, and enjoy their customs.

Neighboring countries face each other, the sounds of chickens and dogs are heard, and people die of old age without communication.

Chapter 81

Believe without beauty, beauty without trust.

Good people do not argue, while debaters are not good.

Those who know do not know, and those who know do not know.

Saints do not accumulate, thinking that the more they have, the more they have with others.

The way of heaven is to benefit without harming.

The way of the sage is to do without dispute.
